She comments that the word 'peace' ought to 'be left out from Birmingham dictionaries'. Mary Taylor also refers to Elizabeth's recent visit to 'the Workhouse homes' and the Taylor family's decision to postpone their trip to America. She comments on her husband John Taylor's visit to Brixton and a speaker who had taken his place at an evening meeting. Mary Taylor also refers to the 'awful murders' in Dublin Park. The letter includes references to Elizabeth's brother Wilfrid and her younger sisters Annie and Josephine who were returning to school. Mary Taylor also remarks on house cleaning and difficulties with the family's servants, concluding her letter with an account of recent family activities.
