| Title | Postcard from Rendel Harris to George and Elizabeth Cadbury |
| Level | Item |
| Date | 17 April 1917 |
| Description | Pencil annotations feature on this postcard revealing that it was amongst the personal papers relating to 'friendships' which Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury collected and categorised during her lifetime. Annotations also state that the postcard was written after Rendel Harris's ship had been torpedoed. Wood and Agnew write that whilst travelling to join his friend J. H. Moulton in India. Harris's ship was torpedoed causing Harris to almost drown. In addition, on their voyage back to England Harris's and Moulton's ship was torpedoed again which led to Moulton's death from exposure. In his postcard Harris writes 'we are making a steady recovery', adding that his 'swollen feet' were 'nearly cured'. |
