| Description | This section contains letters written by George Cadbury to his elder children who were living away from home. George Cadbury's letters provide accounts of the Cadbury family's activities and life at the Manor House in Northfield. The letters also provide an insight into the development of Woodbrooke during the early twentieth century. One particularly notable letter written in November 1903 describes a fire at Woodbrooke which destroyed part of the Library. The letters also include details about the family's health, and travelling plans. It is possible to suggest that these letters written by George Cadbury were an early forerunner to Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury's weekly family journal letters which survive in the Cadbury Family Papers from 1904 onwards. Indeed, in one letter George Cadbury described this correspondence as a 'circular letter' which was sent to the Cadbury children. |
