DescriptionThis letter was sent to George and Elizabeth Cadbury on Christmas Day 1901 by George Cadbury's cousin Hannah Cadbury and her sisters. Hannah Cadbury thanks her cousins for their 'beautiful Xmas present of chocolates'. She describes 'the choice collection of boxes' which she had received and notes that she and her sisters had taken some of the chocolates with them to Malvern. Hannah Cadbury comments on family concerns over George and Elizabeth's son George Norman and describes the weather in Malvern. She also remarks on a visit from cousins Louis, Walter and Harrison Barrow. Hannah Cadbury concludes her letter thanking her cousins for sending her a copy of 'The Studio', a journal which featured an article on Bournville written by J. H. Whitehouse.

AdminHistoryHannah Cadbury (1830-1904) was the daughter of Benjamin Head Cadbury (1798-1880), the elder brother of John Cadbury and his wife Candia Cadbury (nee Wadkin, 1803-1887). She was actively involved in philanthropic work in Birmingham, serving as an adult school teacher and Guardian of the Poor. Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury's family journal dated 23rd September 1904 describes the death and funeral of Hannah Cadbury, reflecting her significance within the city.
