AdminHistoryAlthough this card refers only to 'Professor and Mrs. Sandbach', it is likely that the Sandbachs were Professor Francis Edward Sandbach (1874-1946), a Professor of German at the University of Birmingham and his wife Ethel Sandbach (nee Bywater, 1874-1949), a teacher who lived in nearby Edgbaston. Professor and Mrs. Sandbach's eldest son Francis Henry Sandbach (1903-1991) rose to fame as a classical scholar.
