| Title | Programme for a concert by the Memorial Hall Temperance Choir |
| Level | Item |
| Date | July 1882 |
| Description | This pink leaflet advertises a concert being given by the Memorial Hall Temperance Choir on Tuesday 15th July 1882. The concert was being held by the Coleman Street Gospel Mission Temperance Society at the Memorial Hall in Peckham. The programme of entertainment featured on the leaflet states that Miss E. M. Taylor, Elizabeth Taylor, would be presiding over the concert as the Conductor, and that she would also be giving a solo performance of a song called 'The Old Cottage Clock'. The Chairman of the concert is named on the programme as 'A. Reed Esq.' who may have been Elizabeth Taylor's Uncle Alexander Reed. Elizabeth Taylor lived with her Uncle and his family between 1874 and 1876 whilst she attended the North London Collegiate School for Girls. It is possible that this choir was formed from members of one of the Sunday School or adult classes with which Elizabeth Cadbury was associated in Peckham or Bunhill Fields. |
