DescriptionIn this extract Mary Jane Taylor remarks that it was 'almost impossible to write' owing to demands on her time from her children and social callers. She refers to the ill-health of a family friend Mary Harding and thanks Elizabeth for sending her some flowers. She also refers to the Taylors' drunken neighbour Mr. Smith and comments on recent news which she had received from Elizabeth. The extract concludes with remarks about Elizabeth's brother Wilfrid going to a meeting of the Portfolio Society.
