| Description | In this letter Mary Jane Taylor sympathises with her daughter Elizabeth who was undertaking her work at the mission in hot midsummer weather. She remarks on the welfare of Elizabeth's siblings, particularly her brother Howard, and includes an account of her visit to Elsie Newman alongside other recent social engagements.
Mary Taylor writes that she had taken flowers to place on the grave of Elizabeth's younger sister Isabel who had died in 1874 shortly after Elizabeth's return home from school in Saxe-Meiningen. She also provides a short account of the funeral of Mary Harding, an elderly family friend. Mary Taylor remarks on Elizabeth's sister Janet's work caring for an invalid and includes news about other family friends. She concludes her letter with details of forthcoming Monthly Meeting and her plans to hold a tea party for children in the Taylor family's garden at Sunbury. |
