| Description | R. Duncan Fairn, Assistant Commissioner of the Prison Commission, wrote to Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury in April 1950 with an account of the North London Collegiate School's Founder's Day celebrations which were held on 4th April 1950 to commemorate the centenary anniversary of the school's founding by Frances Mary Buss.
In his letter Fairn remarks that Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury had been mentioned by Dr. Anderson in her speech at the event, in which she had described Taylor Cadbury as a 'fair sample of what North London can do.' He writes that Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury had also been praised for attending the centenary dinner and delivering the first toast, a considerable achievement given her age at almost 92. Fairn adds that the 'Tableaux Vivants' illustrating Miss Buss's life had been 'executed with great charm'.
Fairn concludes his letter by congratulating Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury on her forthcoming ninety-second birthday on 24th July 1950, adding 'what a wonderful encouragement and inspiration you are to us.' |
