TitleLetter from Dr. Kitty Anderson to Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury
LevelItem
Date27 November 1949
DescriptionThis letter forms a personal invitation to Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury from Dr. Kitty Anderson inviting her to the celebrations being held to commemorate the centenary of the North London Collegiate School for Girls. The letter informs Taylor Cadbury that the celebrations would begin on Thursday 30th March with an opening ceremony at the school. Anderson writes that a Service of Commemoration and Thanksgiving would be held at St. Paul's Cathedral on Friday 30th March 1950. The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Fisher, had agreed to give the sermon at this service. Anderson's letter also states that a dinner would be held at the Waldorf Hotel for 'the Old North Londoners' on Saturday 1st April 1950.

Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury was the oldest surviving pupil of the North London Collegiate school in 1949, aged 91. Considering this, Dr. Anderson asks Taylor Cadbury if she would be willing to attend the dinner and also to make the first speech including a proposal of health to the school. She requests that Taylor Cadbury's speech refer to 'the great pioneer work' of Miss Frances Mary Buss. Anderson also notes that the school's Founder's Day would be celebrated on 4th April 1950. Describing her work at the North London Collegiate School, Anderson remarks 'it is wonderful to be serving in a school with such great traditions.'
