TitlePhotographs showing a group of boys visiting the Manor House
LevelItem
Date1911
DescriptionTwo black and white photographs mounted together on the same backing sheet showing groups of boys in the drawing room of the Manor House. The photograph at the top of the sheet shows six boys lounging and reading by the fireplace. The photograph at the bottom of the sheet shows a larger gathering of boys standing up near to the pipe organ in the drawing room. George Cadbury's second wife Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury was a keen musician and often played the organ to groups of people who visited the Manor House. It is possible that the photograph at the bottom of the sheet shows the boys singing, although one boy on the far left of the photograph can be seen reading an illustrated newspaper. These photographs provide an insight into the interior decoration of the Manor House which included silver plates and mounted deer heads alongside flowers and family photographs.
