| Description | This section contains four mounted black and white photographs showing groups of youths who were invited by George and Elizabeth Taylor Cadbury to visit the Manor House in Northfield. The Cadburys invited men, women and children from urban Birmingham and beyond to the Manor House and the rural grounds which surrounded their home including the Manor Farm. These visits provided an opportunity for people to enjoy the health benefits of rural surroundings. After moving to the Manor House in 1894 the Cadburys built a large barn in the meadows near to the entrance of Manor Farm which could provide tea and meals for seven hundred people. This barn became an important centre for hosting social functions associated with the Cadburys' business and philanthropic work. |
