Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: The FWCC exists to encourage fellowship among all the branches of the Religious Society of Friends. The FWCC was formed in 1937 to 'facilitate loving understanding of diversities among Friends while we discover together, with God’s help, our common spiritual ground' and 'to facilitate full expression of our Friends’ testimonies in the world'. The FWCC World Office is in London and there are Section offices with secretaries and committee structures to serve the four FWCC Sections: Europe & the Middle East Section, Section of the Americas, Africa Section and Asia-West Pacific Section. The East-West Relations Committee and the Friends Peace Committee formed part of the Religious Society of Friends, each having jurisdiction over a number of religious, educational and development projects. These committees were merged in 1964 to form the Friends Peace and International Relations Committee (FPIRC). The Friends International Centre (FIC), London serves as a meeting place to promote international fellowship and understanding. Nature of support: Trust grants were made for a number of FWCC conferences and accompanying travel expenses during the 1950s and 1960s. The Trust was a regular subscriber to the Friends Centre, Brighton during the 1960s with a series of small annual grants. The Trust also supported the Hull Quaker Housing Association and the Woodlands home in Warwickshire with a series of small grants during the same period. Minutes: No minutes cited. Notes: The Trust supported the rebuilding of a youth centre in Port Said destroyed during the Suez Crisis in 1956. Files organised by date from newest to oldest, labelled 'a' for FWCC material and 'b' for FIC, FPC and other material. File numbered '5/17/2'.
