Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: Woodbrooke was founded in 1903 as a dedicated Quaker study centre in Selly Oak, Birmingham. Woodbrooke's premises were donated by George Cadbury who had once lived there. Woodbrooke College became a registered charity in 1963. It provides educational and conference centres, operates a library as well as a cafe. Nature of support: In 1987 the Trust approved a grant of £500 toward research and travel expenses arising from a history of the origins of Australian Friends. In 1990 the Trust made a single payment of £7,500 toward the Woodbrooke bursary fund for non-Friends attending short courses. Minutes: B&GSCT 6670, B&GSCT 7204.
