Applicant overview: The Smith's Wood Project was proposed in 1987 with the intention of replicating community based development projects in Kingshurst and Chemsley Wood in north Solihull. The SWP aims to improve consultation between tenants and officials from the Housing Department, establish an advice service for housing matters, improve access to community facilities (especially among youth), create and support community networks/groups and develop a co-ordinated approach to local authority and other agencies problems. In 1987 a grant of £10,000 per year was made by the Trust for a three-year period. The Trust also agreed to underwrite deficits of up to £5,000 in the short term. Minutes: B&GSCT 6848.
