Applicant overview: CJC (formerly the Coventry Unemployed Workers Project) was established in 1983 by the Coventry Voluntary Service Council (CVSC) and aims to work on unemployment issues in a variety of ways, by 1) initiating and assisting unemployed people to campaign on issues that are important to them, 2) running courses in different communities for unemployed groups, 3) prioritising and highlighting specific groups that are discriminated against (e.g. women, long term unemployed, disabled people and ethnic minorities), 4) working with statutory, voluntary and trade organisations in an effort to improve services to unemployed people, and 5) researching and monitoring the effects of government schemes and other related issues on different sections of the community. Nature of support: In 1986 the Trust approved a loan of up to £3,000 to the CJC to be paid through the CVSC.
