Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: CREC was established by the Community Roots Trust (CRT) and provides services and advocacy for black and ethnic minority communities in Birmingham. CREC subsequently left the CRT and became a limited company. CREC is one of the largest black voluntary organisations in the city. Nature of support: In 1986 the CREC received a Trust grant of £400 towards an open day. That same year a single grant of £468 was approved towards salary costs. Further open day support was provided in 1987 totalling £200. In 1988 the Trust agreed to offer three annual grants of £13,500 to CREC to employ a development officer, and later for bookkeeping support services.
