Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: The BIE project was launched in 1990 by a seconded member of staff from Corrymeela Link Committee. BIE encourages exchanges to deepen the understanding of the islands of Britain and Ireland. BIE services include, 1) conducting introductory meetings, seminars and courses for those interested in a deeper understanding of British/Irish relations, 2) identifying and introducing exchange partners, 3) arranging and supervising initial visits, 4) acting as an on-going advisory body for those participating in exchanges, and 5) arranging and providing conferences and meetings for those wishing further development of their links and interests. Nature of support: In 1990 the Trust approved a grant of £7,555 toward the BIE project feasibility study with a further £6,000 committed later that same year. Minutes: B&GSCT 7196, B&GSCT 7265.
