Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust, Paul S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: The NWG is based in Rathcoole, a large estate on the outskirts of Belfast. The NWG was established to fill the need for a women's self help group on the estates. The Group had its first meetings in 1985 and secured premises in 1986. The major role of the women's group is that it serves as a place that women can call into and use as they like. The Centre conducts arts and crafts activities, fitness classes, a youth club, a crèche and other projects. Nature of support: In 1986 the Paul S. Cadbury Trust approved an initial grant of £2,000 per annum for two years subsequently raised to £2,500. In 1989 three years of additional grants at £2,000 were agreed followed by two more years.
