Applicant overview: In 1991 a proposal supported by the editor of Fortnight, among others, approached the Trust to support a commission of inquiry for Northern Ireland. The Commission aims to explore the problems facing Northern Ireland by providing a new channel for talks, offering more rigorous analysis of challenges, attract media attention and show how the lessons of Northern Ireland can be applied more broadly.
