DescriptionGrant file containing correspondence, minutes, agendas, grant overview, accounts, project proposal and funding requests relating to the Northern Ireland Council for Voluntary Action (NICVA) Northern Ireland Parliamentary Information Unit (NIPIU). Funding source(s): Paul S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: A proposal to create NIPIU was made in 1987 by NICVA in consultation with counterparts in England, Wales and Scotland and the Charitable Trusts Administrators Group (CTAG). NIPIU has three objectives, to determine 1) what is happening in Northern Ireland now, 2) what is needed, and 3) what are the options? This will be done by producing a guide to Parliament and how to influence its representatives, to offer training and expert advice, offer briefings at Westminster and in Northern Ireland both for elected groups and for community and voluntary groups, arrange a regular meeting of interested parliamentarians and offer a travel grant scheme to enable community and voluntary groups to travel to Westminster for lobbying and information purposes. Nature of support: No grants were made. Minutes: PSCT 694, PSCT 744, PSCT 839. Notes: File organised from newest to oldest. File not numbered.
