Funding source(s): Barrow Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: WUS (UK) is an international NGO committed to education as a basic human right. WUS (UK) works with partners in countries around the world to deliver and support education and training, especially for refugees and people affected by conflict. It works with this group, specifically for the advancement of education and the relief of students and staff of higher universities and other institutions of higher education who are in need of financial assistance. WUS achieves these aims through its two divisions: the Refugee Education & Training Advisory Service (RETAS) and its International Division. The Fontana Project was carried out by RETAS as an innovative partnership providing pathways to employment and self-employment for refugees and asylum seekers by providing an integrated package of training supported by work placements, job search, accredited prior experiential learning and employment support and a 'one stop shop' advice service. WUS became a registered charity in 1964. Nature of support: In 1998 the Trust approved a grant of £10,000 for the financial year 1998/1999 and £18,000 for the year 1999/2000. Notes: File organised from newest to oldest. File numbered 'W/6'.
