Applicant overview: ZASP is a registered charity that was formed in January 1996 by a group of Zairian refugees living in the London Borough of Camden, in order to provide support and advice to both Zairian and other African Francophone refugees and asylum seekers, the majority of whom would not be English speakers. ZASP aims to relieve the financial hardship and stress suffered by these asylum seekers, particularly those who are newly arrived in the UK, by providing, 1) advice regarding immigration, social and welfare rights, housing, community integration, education and training, and 2) an interpreting and translation service.
