Applicant overview: Network 81 aims to, 1) advance the education of children with special needs, 2) educate the parents of such children about all matters relating to the education of their children, 3) link up and support groups and individual parents of children with special educational needs, 4) raise awareness and publicise good practice in inclusive education, 5) encourage parents to take their rightful place in education policy-making, and 6) promote parent-professional partnership. Network 81 became a registered charity in 1989 and operates as a company limited by guarantee. Nature of support: In 1994 the Trust offered Network 81 two to three years of support at £10,000. In 1997 the Trust agreed to increase the third annual payment by £5,000 plus two additional grants at £15,000. In 1998 a further annual grant was approved by the Trust.
