Many of these individuals have severe communication impairments in addition to learning disabilities. For these clients the development of augmentative and alternative communication systems is essential in order that they may express their needs, choices, feelings and aspirations. Facilitated Communication is a strategy for improving motor skills to enable someone to point or to touch objects or letters for communication purposes. Nature of support: In 1996 the Trust approved underwriting for Ravenswood at £25,000 per annum for three years or a grant of £20,000 for the same period.
