Applicant overview: The Circles Network was established in 1994 and aims to support people who are either experiencing social exclusion, or are at risk of being isolated through disability, disadvantage and long-term illness, to become and remain fully included in community life. Network aims include working in communities throughout the UK, with bases in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales and maintaining a local presence and having the resources to respond to the needs of individuals and their families, wherever they live. The Network became a registered charity in 1995. Nature of support: In 1995 the Trust agreed to annual grants of £30,000 for three years plus underwriting of £10,000 during this same period. In 1997 the Trust agreed to offer further underwriting of £50,000 for three years. In 2000 the Trust agreed to commit £400,000 over four years towards Network running costs. In 2005 the Trust made a grant of £50,000 to run a dissemination programme on independent living.
