Applicant overview: The Tagore Centre UK is the country’s foremost institution dedicated to promoting the work and life of Rabindranath Tagore, the Bengali poet. The Centre, founded in May 1985, is primarily a substantial lending library of Tagore’s work and life. The Centre also organises performances, seminars, exhibitions and master classes run by and featuring renowned artists and scholars from the UK and all over the world. Nature of support: In 1997 the Trust approved three annual grants of £10,000 per annum to unlock matching Heritage Lottery funds to renovate a former school in Tottenham for use by the Tagore Centre.
