Applicant overview: The Islamic Foundation was established in 1973 as a unique and pioneering institution specialising in the fields of research, education and publication. Since its inception the Islamic Foundation has strived towards building bridges between the Muslim community and the rest of society by creating a better understanding between communities through greater awareness about each other. The Foundation is based at the Markfield Institute of Higher Education in Markfield, Leicestershire. Nature of support: Following a memorandum of understanding between the Islamic Foundation and the Citizen Organising Foundation (COF) the Trust approved three annual grants of £20,000 from 1998/1999 to 2000/2001.
