Funding source(s): Barrow Cadbury Trust, Racial Justice Programme. Applicant overview: FIS was established following the publication of the Faith in the City Report of 1985 which called for, 'a participation in urban priority areas to promote greater consultation with and participation by local people at neighbourhood level'. FIS aims to, 1) enable disadvantaged communities to identify issues of concern to them, and 2) assist those communities in working to tackle those issues. By the latter 1990s FIS adopted a millennium programme looking into race issues.
