Applicant overview: Play Train was established in 1981 to provide opportunities for creativity and self-expression for children, primarily through research, training and development projects with teachers and childcare professionals. In 1997 the Trust was approached by Play Train to facilitate the publication of a manual resulting from the visit of a representative of the Federation of Childcare Centres of Alabama (FOCAL) and to expand training activities. Nature of support: In 1996 the Trust approved a single grant of £6,000 to support the costs of the FOCAL programme in the UK.
