She joined the Bradford University Department of Peace Studies pending taking up an advisory position at the UN Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) on issues pertaining to arms control in space. Her initial appointment was blocked by the United States in 1984 though she was subsequently appointed in 1985 where she continued her research into weapons in space. Nature of support: The Trust initially provided £2,500 to support Dr. Dahlitz in her work at the University of Bradford in 1984. In 1985 a further £10,000 was provided to support her work at the Department of Peace Studies. When she was appointed to the UNIDIR the remainder of the grant was redirected from Bradford to UNIDIR. A further £20,000 was provided for 1986 and 1987. The Fund assisted Dr. Dahlitz with travel expenses. Additional funds were sought from American donors.
