Applicant overview: The New Internationalist was launched in March 1973 as a monthly periodical addressing the subject of poverty and international development. The magazine has its origins in the student organisation Third World First. Nature of support: The Trust collaborated with the publishers of New Internationalist to produce a series of disarmament packs for educational use on matters of international security and disarmament. In 1982 the Trust made a grant of £7,500 and an interest free loan of the same amount to the New Internationalist in order to produce these 'Peace Packs'.
