CIS began as the Abe Bailey Institute for Inter-Racial Studies in 1968 and was created through the Abe Bailey Trust. The organisation's name was changed to CIS in 1973. CIS aims to conduct research on relations between racial groups of the purpose of promoting mutual acceptance and co-operation. CIS became the Centre for Conflict Resolution (CCR) in 1994. Nature of support: In 1989 the Trust approved two further grants of £10,000 to the CIS. In 1991 the Trust approved three annual research grants of £8,000 towards CIS research.
