Applicant overview: MCANW is an association of health care workers - doctors, nurses, medical students, psychiatrists, social workers, physiotherapists and others - who agree that the greatest threat to human health and welfare is nuclear weapons. They believe that preventing nuclear war is the only possible way to protect people from its medical consequences. MCANW was established in 1980. In 1992 MCANW merged with the Medical Association for the Prevention of War (MAPV) to form Medact. Nature of support: In 1989 the Fund approved a single grant of £10,000 towards office and secretarial costs. That same year the Trust agreed to a grant of £8,000 for conference costs.
