Applicant overview: The Oxford Research Group was formed in 1982 and became a registered charity and company limited by guarantee in 1988. ORG is a leading independent think-tank that has been influential in pioneering the idea of sustainable approaches to security as an alternative to violent global confrontation, through original research, wide-ranging dialogue, and practical policy recommendations. Nature of support: In 1986 the Trust agreed to a single grant of £11,700 to the ORG for its continued work with the Labour Party on the implementation of its non-nuclear policy. In 1987 the Fund approved a single grant of £750 towards the costs of a film on nuclear weapons and security. That same year the Trust agreed to contribute £10,000 towards the cost of research and publications. The Trust also agreed to underwrite up to £3,000 in additional costs.
