Applicant overview: The Power Inquiry was established in 2004 to explore how political participation and involvement can be increased and deepened in Britain. Its work is based on the primary belief that a healthy democracy requires the active participation of its citizens. The European Citizens Consultation aims to create new forms of participation, whereby a cross section of randomly invited citizens deliberate and formulate proposals on the key issues for the next steps of the development of the European Union. The UK aspect of this study was carried out by the Power Inquiry. Nature of support: In 2007 the Fund agreed to a £10,000 grant to support the UK component of the consultation.
