Applicant overview: DFC was created through a research proposal to investigate the situation of divided families from Bangladesh, working in particular from experiences of organisations in the West Midlands regions assisting such families. The management and guidance of the project are the joint responsibility of representatives from the Runnymede Trust, the IAU and other organisations. The IAU offers advice and resources to those facing immigration and nationality problems. The IAU, based in Saltley, also carries out prison casework, training programmes, public information work and research. Nature of support: The Fund approved a £30,000 grant to the IAU to be distributed over three years from 1980 through All Faiths for One Race (AFFOR). From 1983 a further three-year grant at the same level was approved with 75% paid for by the Trust and 25% by the Fund. Support for the DFC began with a £5,000 in 1983.
