Applicant overview: JCWI was established in 1967 to campaign for justice in immigration, nationality and refugee law policy. In addition to providing advice to those affected by immigration issues, the JWCI also carries out public information work and coordinates the efforts of voluntary sector organisations in immigration, nationality and refugee matters. Nature of support: The Trust provided a series of annual £10,000 grants from 1978 to 1984 to support the work of JCWI officers with detainees in prison on the advice of Southfield Trustees. The combined total of all Trust grants in the nine years prior to 1980 amounted to £63,000 for general expenses and £27,000 specifically for detainee cases. General grants of £8,000 continued from 1981 to 1983. These increased to £8,500 per annum from 1984 to 1986.
