Applicant overview: Black Alliance is a black support and information network for cultural activists. Black Alliance aims to 1) share skills through discussions and workshops, 2) discuss problems, 3) share/create a better understanding of history and the nature of members' work, 4) improve communications among black workers in related fields, 5) support black workers in predominantly white organisations, 6) clarify roles of both black and white workers in supporting black arts and cultural work, 7) support black cultural organisations, 8) push for better representation of black workers at conferences within the community arts field, 9) raise unarticulated cultural issues in relevant organisations and the media, 10) focus broadly on cultural issues within the black community, 11) organise celebratory cultural events at the local and national letter, and 12) focus inwards on the organisation and analyse in order to focus outwards with strength and clarity.
