The Centre exists to serve Asian families in the Black Country whose livelihoods are often tied to work in foundries. The Centre provides community advice on redundancy payments, social security and other subjects. It also operates a printing press, which generates public information leaflets in a variety of Asian languages. Nature of support: In 1980 the Fund approved a grant of £950 to purchase an offset printing plate maker for the SUSWC printing press. In 1981 the Fund also approved a grant of £1,000 for the purchase of a camera. In 1981 the Fund also provided £7,000 to the Indian Workers Association (IWA) to employ a worker based at SUSWC. That same year the Trust approved a grant of £6,320.23 to purchase premises on Soho Road, the payment was subsequently made through the Fund. In 1983 £700 was provided by the Fund to carry out repairs on the Soho Road premises. In 1983 the Trust made a grant of £1,200 towards the purchase of a copier.
