Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: The 12th West Bromwich Company of the Boys Brigade consists entirely of boys of West Indian origin. One of its popular components is the BBDC, which holds public performances. The first band was composed of all boys while a second band was later formed of all girls. Nature of support: In 1977 the Trust approved a grant of £400 for new instruments and uniforms. In 1978 £250 was allocated to purchase equipment and uniforms for the new girl's band. In 1983 the Trust made a £10,000 grant to the BBDC. Funds earmarked for the purchase of new premises were subsequently withdrawn. In 1988 a final grant of £5,000 was made to the BBDC.
