Applicant overview: MFRU became a registered charity in 1983 with the aims of advancing religion and religious education by promoting knowledge and understanding of the benefits and culture of the religious faiths and denominations in Birmingham. A primary channel for this study is the certificate course entitled 'An introduction to six major world religions that are practiced in the United Kingdom' covering Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam and Sikhism. Nature of support: In 1981 the Trust agreed to three annual grants of £5,000 to support the salary of an administrator. In 1984 support was renewed for three years at £7,000 per annum. A final grant of £1,000 was made in 1987. A further grant is referenced to the Multi-Cultural Education Project (MCEP) run by the World Council of Churches, Selly Oak.
