According to its constitution the objects of the Centre are, 1) to advance the education of the inhabitants of Wolverhampton and particularly Afro-Caribbean persons, resident therein concerning Afro-Caribbean culture and history, 2) to promote the benefit of said inhabitants without distinction of sex, political, religious or other opinions, by associating the local authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare, for recreation and leisure time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants, and 3) to establish, operate and carry on or to co-operate with others in establishing, operating and carrying on in any building in which the Centre is interested the supply of food and drink and other refreshments by way of sale provided that the amenities mentioned shall be provided for persons attending functions presented or sponsored at the Centre. Nature of support: In 1984 the Trust approved three annual grants of £5,500 per annum for administrative support. In 1986 the Trust transferred the payment to the Paul S. Cadbury Trust. In 1988 the Trust renewed support at the same level for three further years. This grant was rescinded in 1990. Minutes: B&GSCT 6057, B&GSCT 6683, B&GSCT 7209, PSCT 468.
