Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: WASH became a registered charity in 1986 and later became a company limited by guarantee. WASH is a group of women with legal, counselling, employment and women's rights experience. In addition to advising individuals WASH offers advice and training to trade unions, management, voluntary organisations, women's groups and local authorities. WASH works with other lawyers to develop legal strategies on sexual harassment, sends speakers to interested groups and participates in media coverage of the issue and gives interviews to the press. WASH is based in London. Nature of support: In 1991 the Trust approved an initial twelve-month grant of £20,000 to contribute towards salaries and overhead costs. Subject to further review, a grant of £30,000 would be made available for a second year. This second grant was reduced to £10,000 and the balance rescinded. Minutes: B&GSCT 7335, B&GSCT 7755.
