DescriptionGrant file containing correspondence, minutes, applications for support, newsletters, funding applications, agendas, accounts and reports relating to the Queensway Trust (QT). Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust, Paul S. Cadbury Trust, Southfield Trust, Barrow Cadbury Fund Ltd. Applicant overview: The QT registered as a charity in 1976. The QT is a Midlands based charity that aims to relieve social deprivation among persons who may be referred to the probation and after-care services. The QT maintains a cottage for probation staff and clients, a transport section, a community action group, a small grants scheme plus other projects. Nature of support: Southfield Trustees recommended that from 1977 £500 per annum be set aside for the QT to assist in 'hard cases' of need of assistance referred to the QT by various probation trusts. Trustees felt this was in keeping with earlier befriending payments. A series of subsequent grants were made under similar circumstances. The Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust agreed this decision that same year. In 1979 the Trust agreed to underwrite the cost of a vehicle at £3,350. The Paul S. Cadbury Trust made a loan of £2,000 to the QT for alterations at Bulwarton Cottage, a residence for probation staff and their clients on the estate of Lord Boyne. The Fund made £100 available to the QT for basic hospitality costs for probation staff. In 1981 the Trust made a £2,000 grant to the QT plus an additional £500, if required. In 1982 the Trust approved a grant of £2,500 for a three-year period to meet the costs of an assistant secretary's salary at the QT.
