Applicant overview: The Cropwood Programme of short term fellowships at the Cambridge Institute of Criminology was set up in 1968 as a means of enabling practitioners in the criminal justice field to make a contribution to knowledge in their area of interest by undertaking a small piece of research or intensive study of a particular topic. Nature of support: In order to support the Cropwood programme of fellowships, publications and conferences the Southfield Trust recommended to the Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust that an annual £4,000 grant be made from 1977 onwards, though this was increased to £5,000 per annum for the three year period from September 1980 and £6,000 from September 1983.
