| Description | Grant file containing correspondence, reports, memorandum of understanding, job description, financial papers, agenda and project proposal relating to the Corston Independent Funders Coalition (CIFC). Funding source(s): Barrow Cadbury Trust. Applicant overview: The CIFC was established to press for the full implementation of the recommendations of the 2007 Corston Report, an independent review of vulnerable women in the criminal justice system, commissioned by the Home Office and led by Baroness Jean Corston. CIFC is a unique collaboration of grant-making trusts and foundations; 'unique' firstly because of the unusually large number of trusts and foundations involved, and secondly because although trusts and foundations are increasingly working together for grant-making purposes, it is rare (at least in the UK) for them to engage in 'funder advocacy', that is, bringing their joint influence to bear on an area of social change in which they consider themselves to be key stakeholders. Nature of support: In 2009 the Trust allocated £10,000 towards the salary of an advocate to take forward the recommendations of the Corston Report. Minutes: No minutes cited. Notes: File organised by subject. File not numbered. |
