| Description | General Southfield Trust grant application file containing correspondence, minutes, reports, project proposals, leaflets, poster, copies of published material, agendas and funding requests. Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust, Southfield Trust. Applicant overview: This file contains many applications and accompanying documentation. Several applicants are listed here. The Solihull Narrowboat Project was created to specially fit out a narrowboat out for physically handicapped individuals. Much of the work on the boat would be carried out by ex-offenders through the Queensway Trust. The Adullam Housing Association (AHA, now Adullam Homes) was founded in the Birmingham area in 1972 by Walter Moore. Working with the local Probation Service, Moore established the first few houses in Birmingham, buying them with his own money and working largely on his own. Over the next thirteen years, three other independent organisations were developed at Winsford, Liverpool and Stockport. Together, these provided 100 bed spaces. In 1985, the four separate organisations merged to form a single housing association. Adullam works with the most vulnerable people in society today and offers hope and dignity through quality housing and support to people. Coventry Rape Crisis Centre (CRCS, now Coventry Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre) was established in 1981 to provide a confidential support and counselling service run by women for those who have been raped, sexually abused or assaulted. The Cultural Centre, Handsworth, was established through the Probation Department with financial support from Inner City Partnership. The Centre provides a variety of community services including the provision of nursery care. Other funding requests are also included. Nature of support: In 1982 Southfield Trustees recommended a grant of £2,000 to the SNP. That same year Southfield Trustees endorsed a grant of £500 to the Warwickshire Probation Service towards an exhibition mounted by the Service. In 1983 a grant of £1,200 was recommended for the CRSC. In 1984 Southfield Trustees endorsed a grant of £2,500 to be paid through the Queensway Trust for nursery supervision at The Cultural Centre, Handsworth.
