DescriptionGrant file containing correspondence, minutes, agendas, copies of published materials, leaflets and funding requests related to the Centre for Youth Crime and Community (CYCC), University of Lancaster. Funding source(s): Barrow and Geraldine S. Cadbury Trust, Southfield Trust. Applicant overview: The CYCC was created in 1979 to provide a focus for discussion, promotion and research into the causes and solutions of juvenile crime, specifically as it relates to industry and the general community. The CYCC believes that the only possible way to reduce juvenile crime is by an active programme of crime prevention involving all members of the community and by community based programmes aimed at giving youth a 'stake in the system' and thereby reduce convictions of juvenile offenders. Nature of support: In 1986 the Trust approved a grant of between £1,000 and £2,500 for a residential conference on youth crime in Birmingham at the request of Southfield Trustees. That same year the Trust allocated £2,500 towards a fellowship at CYCC. A number of other conference grants were also made for activities at Southampton University. Minutes: B&GSCT 5893, B&GSCT 6480, B&GSCT 6481, B&GSCT 6501, B&GSCT 6730, B&GSCT 6735, ST 17/83, ST 17/86, ST 19/86. Notes: File organised from newest to oldest. File numbered '5/19/1'.
