Applicant overview: Jennifer Monohan is a free-lance journalist involved in research into the experience of young Rastafarians in prison. Her interest focuses on the interpretation of Rastafarianism not as a religion but as a mental condition in custody and the resulting deleterious effects on inmates. Nature of support: In 1982 the Southfield Trust recommended an interest free loan of £1,500 toward transcription costs. This loan was subsequently made by the Fund. A total of £1,284.63 was initially forwarded with a further £500 being made available. That same year the Southfield Trust recommended a final payment of £2,000 to Monahan.
